Australian water project specialist Sequana has announced the appointment of former Victorian government major projects director Ian Filby as Sequana’s National Partner – Energy, Decarbonisation and Major Project Delivery.

Sequana-Team-Ian-FilbyIan was formerly the project director for CarbonNet, a State and Commonwealth funded project investigating commercial scale carbon capture and storage for Gippsland in Victoria and has an extensive history working at the interface between government and the private sector on complex and challenging billion-dollar capital projects, often pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Sequana Managing Partners Mike Walsh and Frank Fisseler said they were excited to announce Ian’s appointment and that Sequana could now add new government energy sector advisory services to its portfolio.

“Our strategy is to offer specific and first-class services to the government sector that we deeply understand, so that we remain focused and our staff can offer true value to clients,” they said.
“Ian comes to the role with strong skills in infrastructure planning, design integration and project management with attention to whole of project strategic, commercial and policy issues and an ability to align engineering solutions and policy.

“He has assisted the Victorian government in its strategic planning for the accelerated closure of the largest coal mines in the Latrobe Valley, and he will use this knowledge and understanding of the water, resources, and energy sectors to build a team of experts to provide decarbonisation strategies for our clients.

“The expansion of Sequana into the energy sector and the appointment of such a respected industry ground breaker as Ian Filby, only goes to reinforce our promise to ignite, inspire, and innovate,” Mr Fisseler said.
