As Australia faces the dual challenges of declining rainfall and a rapidly growing population, the need for a reliable, sustainable water source has never been more critical. Desalination, the process of converting seawater into fresh, potable water, emerges as a robust, climate-resistant solution. It offers a way to address water scarcity while considering environmental and social impacts, making it a key component in Australia’s strategy for water security.

Sequana is currently involved in multiple desalination projects in development around the country, with many of our team having held key roles on desalination projects before joining Sequana, including our Chief Engineer Gary Crisp who has an unparalleled track record in this space.

Tapping into NWW’s theme ‘Accelerating Action’ our experts, alongside Julien Tauvry from Suez, who is managing the largest desalination plant in Australia and the greenest in the world, will discuss how desalination projects can tackle water scarcity and provide a safe future for generations to come with the impacts of climate change.

Our speakers will dive into the complexity of the desalination process while emphasising the ongoing efforts to reduce negative effects on the environment (e.g. environmental impact assessments, use of renewable energy sources, implementation of energy recovery systems, development of advanced membrane technologies, brine and waste management…).

We are excited to be part of the conversation, and we look forward to seeing you online!
